Is my acne meant to look like this while in acne medication?
Ian F asked:
So ive been correctly using my twice a day three step acne medication which my doctor prescribed me to and fortunately it seems to be reducing/clearing the redness of my acne alot more than the over-the-counter products i had been using. Ive been using this medication for about a week now and my acne has gone from red spots/bumps to flat (reddish and slightly purplish) scar type looking things. Is my acne meant to look like this? Is it all part of the process to getting clear skin? Please explain. Thanks

Did you pick at them? No it’s not supposed to look like that. Maybe you are allergic to the product.
Need more info, like what kind of medication? Acutane? Tetracycline?
When I took acutane I had “snake like” skin for a while. It dried everything out including my lips. I was like shedding but luckily after three months I never had to take anything again! All acne, face , back, everything was gone.
Good luck. Don’t pick at it whatever you do. Look up your medicine online to read side effects.
Being the son of a dermatologist, it sounds as though what you are experiencing is fairly common. However, the sooner you can abstain from filling your body with pharmaceuticals, which always have some type of negative side effects, I would try to quickly make the transition to a natural, very healthy, liquid anti-inflammatory/antioxidant called Vemma. It contains the mangosteen fruit, as well as aloe vera, and has been proven effective for obtaining and/or maintaining healthy skin (amongst other health benefits). I would suggest seeking more info at to see what you think. You should also check out, which is the same product, served in energy drink form. If it works for you, and you tell your friends about it, the company offers a referral bonus and sends anyone taking the product a check in the mail once a week just for telling others about it. Check it out. It is guaranteed to work.
i think its probably doing ok. maybe use some antibacterial cream to help heal anything left from the acne and use whatever it is thats supposed to stop them from coming back. clear skin is not a one day thing. you need to clear the acne and then heal the skin to get clear skin. be patient and if anything starts to seem worse call or go see the Dr.
